Download the ISO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So you want to create a bootable Ubuntu USB from Windows? Start by heading over to <a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntu.com\/download\">ubuntu.com<\/a> and download the appropriate image for the version you want to install.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Download a tool to write the ISO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rufus.ie\/\">Rufus<\/a> is a free tool to create bootable USB from an image. You can get it at  <a href=\"https:\/\/rufus.ie\/\">rufus.ie<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Start Rufus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have downloaded Rufus. Run it and you should see a window like the image below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Choose which device you want to write to and load the image you just downloaded. You should be able to use the default options in most cases. After you have verified the settings, you can click <strong>START<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"580\" src=\"https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/001-rufus.png\" alt=\"Rufus default menu\" class=\"wp-image-1757\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/001-rufus.png 474w, https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/001-rufus-245x300.png 245w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><figcaption>Rufus<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You might get a warning that you have to download an other version of Syslinux. This is normal since Rufus can&#8217;t have all possible versions of these files included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just click <strong>Yes <\/strong>and continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"412\" height=\"297\" src=\"https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/002-warning.png\" alt=\"Download requered\" class=\"wp-image-1758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/002-warning.png 412w, https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/002-warning-300x216.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 412px) 100vw, 412px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You will most likely get an other warning about the format of the image. Here you can chose <strong>Write in ISO Image mode<\/strong>. Which is the recommended option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"548\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/003-ISOmode.png\" alt=\"ISOHybrid image detected.\" class=\"wp-image-1760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/003-ISOmode.png 548w, https:\/\/linuxdigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/003-ISOmode-300x148.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wouldn&#8217;t you think we were done with the warnings now. Nope, one more! This time pay attention! <strong>The program will delete any data that is already on the USB stick you chose.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure the label and size of the drive listed match what you expect from your USB stick. If you chose the wrong drive in the first menu, you might destroy your data.
