You can simply obtain the link to the ISO and pull it using wget or curl tools;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><code>wget -c https:\/\/cdimage.kali.org\/kali-2020.3\/kali-linux-2020.3-installer-amd64.iso<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><code>curl -L -O https:\/\/cdimage.kali.org\/kali-2020.3\/kali-linux-2020.3-installer-amd64.iso<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create New Virtual Machine on VirtualBox<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have Kali Linux 2020.3 ISO file downloaded, launch VirtualBox and create a new VM. You can create a new virtual machine by clicking on the VirtualBox menu, <strong><code>Machine &gt; New<\/code><\/strong>. You can simply press <strong><code>Ctrl+n<\/code>;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Set the Name and OS type of the VM<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set the name of the VM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define the machine installation folder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the type of OS and the version to install<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"637\" height=\"393\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/kali-2020.3.png\" alt=\"Install Kali Linux 2020.3 on VirtualBox\" class=\"wp-image-6774\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Define the Memory Size of the VM<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Allocate as much memory to the VM as you possibly can.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"637\" height=\"391\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/kali-linux-memory.png\" alt=\"Kali Linux 2020.3 VirtualBox Memory\" class=\"wp-image-6776\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create Virtual Hard Disk for the VM<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You can create a new Virtual Hard Disk or use an existing if you have, for the VM.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"638\" height=\"395\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/kali-linux-vm-hard-disk.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6777\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Define VM Hard Disk File Type<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On the next page, choose whether to assign a dynamic or fixed size storage type to Kali Linux VM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set the storage location and size of the storage disk as well. Be sure to assign enough storage. We assigned 20G in this setup. Click <strong>Create<\/strong> when done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Define Kali Linux Virtual Machine Settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you create a Kali Linux virtual machine, it should now be listed among your other VMs on the left pane of the VirtualBox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right click on the Kali Linux VM and choose <strong>settings<\/strong> or simply highlight the VM and press <strong>Ctrl+s<\/strong> to open the VM settings wizard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Allocate vCPU cores to the VM<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Allocate more vCPUs to the VM by clicking on the <strong>settings<\/strong> menu and heading over to <strong>processor<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"697\" height=\"552\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/kali-vm-settings.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6778\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attach the Installation Medium<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the <strong>Storage menu &gt; Storage Devices &gt; Controller: IDE &gt; Add optical Drive<\/strong>. Choose the Kali Linux 2020.3 ISO file you downloaded.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"693\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/installation-iso.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6779\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Set the VM Networks<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the Network settings to attach the NICs to your VM. On the first adapter, leave it with the default NAT so as to give the VM internet settings. On adapter two, you can choose to either bridge or set the host-only interfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"546\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/network-settings.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6780\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Define any other VM settings as you wish. Click <strong>Ok<\/strong> when done to close the VM settings wizard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Install Kali Linux on VirtualBox<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Click the VM to highlight it and click the <strong>start<\/strong> button at the top menu or simply right click on the vm and click <strong>Start<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Normal Start<\/strong> to power on the VM and begin installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the VM starts, you are provided with multiple installation options. Choose <strong>Graphical Install<\/strong> and press enter to begin the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"654\" height=\"492\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/graphical-install.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6781\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Go through the installation process to install and setup Kali Linux 2020.3 on VirtualBox. The remaining steps are;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose your Kali Linux 2020.3 installation process language.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define your location. This is used to set your timezone and system local settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure the Keyboard keymap to use. We choose the default option in this setup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the next step, the system detects and mounts the installation media for the installation process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure system network. Set the hostname, the domain name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Setup users and passwords<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure the system clock by choosing your timezone based on the location you chose above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select your system disk partition schemes. We used <strong><code>Guided -use entire disk<\/code><\/strong> scheme in this setup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The system then goes through package installation to install the base system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the base system installation completes, you are prompted on extra packages to install.
