You can create a new virtual machine by clicking on the VirtualBox menu,&nbsp;<strong><code>Machine &gt; New<\/code><\/strong>. Be sure to assign enough storage. We assigned 20G in this setup. Click&nbsp;<strong>Create<\/strong>&nbsp;when done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Define Kali Linux Virtual Machine Settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you create a Kali Linux virtual machine, it should now be listed among your other VMs on the left pane of the VirtualBox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right click on the Kali Linux VM and choose&nbsp;<strong>settings<\/strong>&nbsp;or simply highlight the VM and press&nbsp;<strong>Ctrl+s<\/strong>&nbsp;to open the VM settings wizard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Allocate vCPU cores to the VM<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Allocate more vCPUs to the VM by clicking on the&nbsp;<strong>settings<\/strong>&nbsp;menu and heading over to&nbsp;<strong>processor<\/strong>&nbsp;tab.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"705\" height=\"557\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/system-settings-vcpus.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10476\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attach the Installation Medium<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the&nbsp;<strong>Storage menu &gt; Storage Devices &gt; Controller: IDE &gt; Add optical Drive<\/strong>. Choose the Kali Linux 2021.3 ISO file you downloaded.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"699\" height=\"559\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/attach-kali-2021.3-iso.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10477\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Set the VM Networks<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the Network settings to attach the NICs to your VM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the first <strong>adapter 1<\/strong>, leave it with the default NAT so as to give the VM internet settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On <strong>adapter 2<\/strong>, you can choose to either bridge or set the host-only interfaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"704\" height=\"555\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/network-settings.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10478\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Define any other VM settings as you wish. Click&nbsp;<strong>Ok<\/strong>&nbsp;when done to close the VM settings wizard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installing Kali Linux on VirtualBox<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Click the VM to highlight it and click the&nbsp;<strong>start<\/strong>&nbsp;button at the top menu or simply right click on the vm and click&nbsp;<strong>Start<\/strong>&nbsp;&gt;&nbsp;<strong>Normal Start<\/strong>&nbsp;to power on the VM and begin installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the VM starts, you are provided with multiple installation options. Choose&nbsp;<strong>Graphical Install<\/strong>&nbsp;and press enter to begin the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/graphical-install.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"654\" height=\"492\" src=\"https:\/\/kifarunix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/graphical-install.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6781\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Go through the installation process to install and setup Kali Linux 2021.3 on VirtualBox. The remaining steps are;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose your Kali Linux 2021.3 installation language.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define your location. This is used to set your timezone and system local settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure the Keyboard keymap to use. We choose the default option in this setup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the next step, the system detects and mounts the installation media for the installation process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure system network.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select the primary network interface, choose the first interface, which is the NAT interface in this example.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the hostname, the domain name<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Setup up users and passwords<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure the system clock by choosing your timezone based on the location you chose above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select your system disk partition schemes. We used&nbsp;<strong><code>Guided -use entire disk<\/code><\/strong>&nbsp;scheme in this setup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The system then goes through package installation to install the base system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the base system installation completes, you are prompted on extra packages to install.
